A Polish driver’s truck caught fire on the A36 near Breconchaux on Saturday evening. The fire department received a call around 10:15 p.m. Before emergency services arrived at the scene, a traffic jam had developed due to the slowdown in traffic, which had been warned in advance on the Paris-Rhine-Rhône motorway.

Upon arrival, firefighters mobilized and were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby vegetation using two hoses.
The driver “quickly got out before everything caught fire”
Column commander Olivier Deschamps explained that “the Polish driver saw smoke in his cabin, stopped avoiding the collision and quickly got out before everything caught fire.”
The truck’s load, which consists of aluminum cables, is not considered a fire hazard. An investigation is underway to determine the origin. The gendarmerie redirected traffic to other roads on the spot. The lanes in the direction of Mulhouse-Beaune, where the event took place, were cleared after midnight.
