Jean-Pierre Raffarin's company car became the object of a scandal after a traffic accident: news

Mediapart pointed out the irregularities following the presence of the former Prime Minister in the back of his official vehicle, which collided with a two-wheeler on June 11, 2026, resulting in injuries to the driver. Accusations that Jean-Pierre Raffarin denies.

An accident like so many others in Paris? On June 11, a car with its lights off ran a red light and hit a man on a scooter on a main Paris boulevard, injuring him. According to Mediapart, former Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and his driver were on board the damaged car.

By revealing the identity of the passenger, French media condemn the extension of benefits for former prime ministers, which Jean-Pierre Raffarin officially no longer enjoys since the end of 2025, recalls Le Parisien.

His presence in the company car has been questioned

A politician close to Horizons claims to have received certain benefits at the end of January for an โ€œofficially temporary and unpaid mission concerning Sino-French relations.โ€ However, on June 11 this year, he returned from a trip to Canada, without any connection with China. According to Mediapart, this detail also highlights the illegal use of rotating lights (which can only be activated under special exceptions), which was demanded by Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

The latest controversy raised by investigative media: Several witnesses claim to have seen the former prime minister get out of the car seconds after the accident, without even looking at the scooter driver, although he was injured. This is denied by the person concerned in a press release, where he claims that he โ€œimmediately went to the hospitalโ€ to โ€œget newsโ€ about the man and โ€œleave him my contact information.โ€
