How are teams distributed within groups?
The teamsโ level of points is divided in order by points in head-to-head matches; goal difference between each other; goals scored in personal meetings; total goal difference; total number of goals scored; assessment of team behavior; FIFA rating.
The top two teams in each group qualify along with the top eight third-place teams.
Who made it to the last 32?
Mexico, South Africa, Switzerland, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Morocco, USA, Australia, Paraguay, Germany, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Belgium, Egypt, Spain, Cape Verde, France, Norway, Senegal, Argentina, Colombia, Portugal, England, Croatia and Ghana.
Who was excluded?
Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Tรผrkiye, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Panama and Scotland.
How does the third place qualification work?
The top eight third-placed teams qualify for the last 32 based on a ranking that takes into account, in order: points, goal difference (GD), goals scored, fair play status (conduct) and FIFA ranking. Four points will now be enough to qualify, given the results so far.
Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Senegal and Ghana qualified for the round of 16 as they were guaranteed to be among the top eight third-placed teams. Uruguay is eliminated as it cannot make the eight third-placed teams.

Mexico emerged as group winners with a perfect record to face Ecuador, the third-placed team from Group E, at Estadio Azteca on Tuesday 30 June at 19:00 local time, 2:00 BST.
South Africa finished second with four points and will face Canada at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday, June 28 at noon local time, 20:00 Moscow time.
South Korea finished third with three points and must wait to see if they reach the last 32.
Czech Republic eliminated.
Group B
Switzerland won the group and will face the third-place team from Groups G or J in Vancouver on Thursday, July 2 local time at 4 a.m. PT on Friday, July 3.
Canada We face Group A runners-up South Africa in Los Angeles on Sunday 28 June at noon local time, 20:00 Moscow time.
Bosnia and Herzegovina entered the top eight third-placed teams and will face the USA in San Francisco at 6pm local time on Wednesday 1 July and 1am BST on Thursday 2 July.
Qatar eliminated.
Group C
Brazil won the group and will now face Group F runners-up Japan in Houston on Monday, June 29 at noon local time, 6:00 p.m. Moscow time.
Morocco advance to play Group F winners Netherlands in Monterrey at 7pm local time on Monday 29 June and 2am BST on Tuesday 30 June.
Scotland And Haiti eliminated.
Group D
USA emerged winners of Group D and will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, the third-placed team from Group B, in San Francisco at 6pm local time on Wednesday 1 July and 1am BST on Thursday 2 July.
Australia progressed to the last 32 as runners-up and will face runners-up Group G (Egypt) in Dallas at 1pm local time/9pm BST on Friday 3 July and 4am AEDT on Saturday 4 July.
Paraguay entered the top eight third-placed teams and will face Group E winners Germany on Monday, June 29 in Boston at 4:30 p.m. local time (9:30 p.m. BST).
Tรผrkiye eliminated.
Group E
Germany emerged as group winners and will face Paraguay, the third-placed team from Group D, in Boston at 16:30 local time (21:30 BST) on Monday 29 June.
Ivory Coast finished second and will travel to Dallas to play Group I runner-up Norway on June 30 at noon local time, 6 p.m. Moscow time.
Ecuador qualified as one of the top eight third-placed teams to face Mexico at Estadio Azteca on Tuesday 30 June at 19:00 local time, 2:00 BST.
Curacao eliminated.
Group F
Netherlands emerged as group winners and will face Group F runners-up Morocco in Monterrey at 7pm local time on Monday 29 June and 2am BST on Tuesday 30 June.
Japan qualified for the playoffs as runners-up to face Group C winners Brazil in Houston on Monday, June 29 at noon local time, 6:00 p.m. BST.
Sweden are one of the top third-place teams and will face Group I winners France in New Jersey on Tuesday, June 30 at 5:00 p.m. local time, 10:00 p.m. BST.
Tunisia eliminated.
Group G
Belgium won the group and faced the third-placed team from Groups A, I or J in Seattle at 13:00 local time or 21:00 BST on Wednesday 1 July.
Egypt progressed to the last 32 as runners-up and will face Group D runners-up Australia in Dallas at 1pm local time/9pm BST on Friday 3 July and 4am AEDT on Saturday 4 July.
Iran finished third with three points and zero goal difference after three draws and they will have to wait to see if they make it to the last 32.

Group H
Spain emerged as group winners and will face Group J runners-up Austria or Algeria at Los Angeles Stadium on Thursday 2 July.
Cape Verde advanced to the round of 16 as Group H runners-up in their World Cup debut and will face Group J winners Argentina in Miami at 6:00 p.m. local time, 11:00 p.m. BST on Friday, July 3.
Uruguay are eliminated after finishing with two points and not being among the eight third-place teams.
Saudi Arabia are also eliminated.
Group I
France qualified as group winners with a perfect record and will play Sweden in New Jersey on Tuesday, June 30 at 17:00 local time and 22:00 Moscow time.
Norway finished second and will play Ivory Coast in Dallas on Tuesday 30 June at noon local time, 6pm BST.
Senegal qualified as one of the top eight third-place teams, but will have to wait to find out the names of their final 32 opponents.
Iraq eliminated.
Group J
Argentina emerged as group winners and will face Group H runners-up Cape Verde in the Round of 16 in Miami at 6:00 p.m. local time, 11:00 p.m. BST on Friday, July 3.
Austria will progress with a win or draw against Algeria. For Austria, a small defeat may also be enough.
Algeria progresses with a win or draw against Austria.
Jordan are eliminated.

Group K
Colombia have qualified and will top the group if they avoid defeat to Portugal.
Portugal could top the group after beating Colombia, would be second if there was a draw and would be guaranteed to be among the top third-placed teams if they lose and finish below DR Congo after a huge goal difference.
If Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) beat Uzbekistan and will reach the 1/8 finals.
Uzbekistan need to beat DRC by a huge margin to keep interest in the tournament.

Group L
England will lead the group after defeating Panama and will play the third-place team from Group I or K in Atlanta at 17:00 local time, 22:00 Moscow time on Wednesday, July 1.
Croatia finished second after defeating Ghana and will face the second-placed team in Group K โ Portugal or Colombia โ in the round of 16.
Ghana are also in the last 32, despite the loss, as one of the best third-placed teams.
