Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peat has confirmed that Ethan Havard and Liam Marshall are making good progress in their rehabilitation, while suspended striker Sam Walters is looking forward to returning.
The Warriors have been without striker Marshall since late April when he tore his hamstring in the away defeat to Warrington Wolves.
One-club Marshall, who turned 30 in May, is in the eighth week of an expected 12-week break.
Meanwhile front rower Havard suffered a broken jaw early in Wiganโs win at Wakefield Trinity earlier this month and remarkably managed to push through the pain barrier for much of that game at Belle Vue.
He has undergone surgery but a return date for the Bulgarian-born, four-time England international has yet to be announced.
Wigan Warriors coach shares positive update after pair sidelined with double injury
Versatile striker Walters is another notable player for the Cherries and Whites, although his absence from the squad in recent weeks has been due to suspension rather than injury.
The towering 25-year-old was handed a seven-game ban after being red-carded for a terrible tackle on Hull FC hooker Bill Leyland in the Challenge Cup final.
He has already played three of those seven games but will have to miss Super League matches against Hull, St Helens (Magic Weekend), Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants before returning to action.
Speaking ahead of this weekendโs trip to Hull, head coach Pete said: โEthan is in a lot of pain. Heโs working hard as always.โ
โHe and Sam Walters are tearing the gym apart, they are very good professionals, great athletes and work hard.
โIt will be great when we finally get them both back.
โMarches is on the right track. He still has some time to go, heโs not runningโฆ or heโs certainly not with the team.โ
โHeโs been working hard in the gym and looks great physically, but he still has over a month off.โ
If all goes to plan, veteran Marshall could be back in action when Wigan host rivals Saints on July 24, a game that will see Walters return from suspension.
Thereโs another derby coming up in a week for the Warriors as they make the short trip to Leigh Leopards for the latest Battle of the Town.
Youngster Noah Hodkinson has filled the void on the wing left by Marshallโs absence and has done a sterling job, scoring 11 tries in seven appearances on the wing to date. That number includes seven in just the last two games.
