18′ Dragons can’t strike again

Tamale kicks a bomb and Horsburgh picks it up offside. The Dragons are on offense and they get another penalty when Sanders gives Stewart a high.

Flanagan hits Holmes, but he misses the target.

16′ Raiders try disallowed

Guterson hits a Tamale pressure bomb to give Canberra their first chance.

After a pretty bad set, it comes down to Strange and he single-handedly beats four defenders and scores. Sensational solo work by Raider.

Coachman has a hand in this, and grounding is under consideration. I don’t think it ever escaped his hands… but Bunker disagrees.

No more trying. The Raiders can’t catch a break.

12′ Canberra almost self-destructed

Canberra hit hard and the Dragons have a chance to pick up more points.

Flanagan almost made it, but on his next tackle, Guterson’s pass went into the ground. Raider ball.

11′ The Dragons took advantage of a Raiders error

The Saints knock down Canberra’s pass and the Raiders get a fresh set late in the scoring.

Sanders forces Hosking to run into a gaping hole, but his pass is miles wide, picked up by Sloane and he races 60 meters to score.

Terrible things for newcomers, Dragons take the lead. Holmes converts and it’s 6-0 Saints.

8′ The Dragons almost went on the attack again

The Dragons go blind, Gutherson goes left and cuts inside for Holmes, it’s a race between him and Weeks and he fades out after being brought down by Holmes.

Another close call for the Saints.

6′ Raiders survive again

Tamale catches the ball on the sideline, but the referee decides he didn’t put his foot on the ground. Dragon Ball.

Atkinson grabs him and he rises up in front of Egan, but he knocks him down while trying to collect him. The Raiders survive.

3′ Dragons are coming close

The restart forces Saints to attack. Tu beats Tamale last, Egan picks him up and calls for a try, but the referee rules it out as a no try.

Tu knocked. The Raiders survive.

Call it a Raiders self-loathing decision if you want, but I think the Dragons have a real chance tonight.

They’ve been playing tougher than Canberra lately and if Atkinson can make some mistakes in his kicking game like he did against the Knights (and we know the Raiders can be so vulnerable) it could lead to points.

Let’s beat the Saints by one point with Kaeo Weeks scoring first.

Canberra are 1-19 as named on Tuesday, while the Dragons make one change with Jacob Halangahu joining the bench in place of Blake Lawrie.

Simi Sasagi will return to the Raiders after six weeks out with a shoulder injury.
