Dheeraj Dhoopar is all set to participate in the second season of Lock Upp. The show, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, features several television stars and social media personalities including Shivangi Joshi, Ram Kapoor Sunita Ahuja, Yogesh Rawat, Riyaz Ali and Shreya Kalra among others.
Interestingly, we have seen several reality shows in recent times that have been dominated by social media personalities or content creators. While this has sparked debate on whether actors are losing control, Dheeraj Dhoopar believes everyone deserves a chance. In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18 Showsha, Dupar spoke about the growing competition from influencers and clarified that he is not insecure about it.
โIt would be wrong of me to comment on this until I experience it. And personally speaking, it doesnโt matter which field a person belongs to, what matters is how well I connect with someone personally. If I personally interact with someone who is from a different field, I will definitely express it on the show or even after that,โ Dheeraj told us when asked about this emerging competition from influencers.
โI have nothing to be insecure about, we have all been selected from our respective fields. Everyone who participates in the show is equally capable. But having said that, I am here to win, so I prefer to concentrate on showing the best I can do,โ the actor added.
While many feel that influencers get an edge due to their huge fan following on social media, Dheeraj shared, โThis is the time of social media and yes, talent too cannot be ignored. It is a world of changing trends. You may be trending for a short time, but you can survive only because of your talent.โ

Talking about why he decided to take part in Lock Upp 2 now, Dheeraj said, โAfter a few shows on television and exploring the OTT genre through serials, I wanted to try something different. The reality space is something that I had not explored at all and Lock Upp is a show that seemed perfect to me. Also, one of the major factors for saying yes is the combination of Netflix and Ekta Kapoor, it was too good to pass up.โ
