BBC Breakfast: Ralf Little jokes about his new theater role

Death in Paradise fans were delighted when Ralf Little returned to screens in a repeat of series 11 of the BBC show last Friday. Once viewers tuned in, they returned to Ralph as Detective Neville Parker, who also returns to screens tonight for a repeat of the second episode of season 11.

After the departure of former detective Jack Mooney, played by Ardal Oโ€™Hanlon, Inspector Parker fell to head the Sainte-Marie police. Originally sent from Manchester to quickly resolve issues, the new inspector found life on the Caribbean island quite difficult.

However, when questionable evidence came to light, his supposed short stay was reluctantly extended to further investigate what had become a murder case.

The synopsis for tonightโ€™s episode reads: โ€œA long-lost brotherโ€™s arrival at the family golf club ends with a body being removed from the course. A prime suspect with an alibi leaves a team of detectives with an unsolvable mystery, reports the Mirror.

Last week, fans could barely contain their excitement and quickly took to social media to express their joy at Ralphโ€™s return. One viewer tweeted: โ€œ@deathinparadise @RalfLittle congrats on watching the replay tonight.โ€

Another said: โ€œWatching the rerun of @deathinparadise on @BBCOne with @RalfLittle what a shame you replaced him and so many of the original crewโ€ฆ it was the best.โ€ Someone else added: โ€œMissing Neville, my favorite detective on the island.โ€

Another commented: โ€œDoes anyone miss the Neville and Marlon dynamic?โ€ to which one replied: โ€œDefinitely! They had great chemistry.โ€ In March 2024, Ralph announced his departure from the series on Instagram, where he was recognized as the programโ€™s longest-serving detective.

He emotionally shared: โ€œMy time on Sainte-Marie has come to an end, what an end! New adventures await Neville, and he will have to sail off into the sunset with his best friend.

โ€œWho knows what will happen to them next! โ€œI want to say a huge thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show when I arrived four and a half years ago.โ€

Reflecting on joining the series, Ralph also admitted: โ€œComing to a show loved by millions was a huge responsibility, and I had no idea whether the audience would accept my interpretation of the character of Neville, or myself.

โ€œIt has been a real relief that the response has been overwhelming and it has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to introduce you all to Neville Parker and share his very profound journey with you.

โ€œI canโ€™t thank you all enough for your support over the last four and a half years. It was one of the most magical and profound experiences of my entire life.โ€

Wreck-It Ralph reappears on Sunday night with a rerun of the fourth episode of the eleventh season. The synopsis hints: โ€œFlorenceโ€™s undercover role takes a dangerous turn when she finds herself in familiar surroundings during a murder investigation. Faced with a race against time, Neville sets out to solve the crime.โ€

Death in Paradise airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
