From Saturday June 27th at 9:00 am to Sunday June 28th at 6:00 pm.
Situation
Yesterday, 138 new monthly records and 34 absolute records were broken (all months combined). The results were exceptional from the very beginning of the episode. June 21where we already count 385 absolute records and 1170 monthly entries. In its intensity, extent and duration, this heat wave is exceptional for June and bears similarities to August 2003, even if its overall intensity remains somewhat lower.
Observation
This morning Preliminary minimum temperatures confirm another exceptionally hot, sometimes sweltering night stretching from the southwest to the center and east of the country. In the center of major cities, thermometer temperatures often remained between 22 and 27ยฐC, well above the tropical nighttime threshold of 20ยฐC.
In particular, 22ยฐC was recorded in Strasbourg, Angers, Tours, La Rochelle and Bordeaux, 23ยฐC in Paris and Amberier, 24ยฐC in Limoges, 25ยฐC in Clermont-Ferrand, 26ยฐC in the center of Lyon and up to 27ยฐC in Lons-le-Saunier.
These nights without real coolness do not allow the body to recover and the house to cool down. As such, they significantly worsen the health impacts of this historic heat wave, especially in urban centers where heat remains trapped in buildings and mineral surfaces.
Note, however, that there was an improvement in the northern third of the country: the night there was less muggy than previous ones, thanks to a light northerly wind and the passage of storms, which helped lower temperatures. At dawn from Rennes to Lille via Rouen it was around 17-20ยฐC.

Evolution
Weโve just passed the peak of the heat wave. Temperatures are starting to drop in the west of the country. Departments near the Atlantic and English Channel are returning to the yellow-orange level. The red alert level remains in 40 departments and temperatures at night remain very high, often between 22 and 27ยฐC. Temperatures remain hot during the afternoon, ranging from 37 to 40ยฐC, with highs reaching 41 to 42ยฐC in the northeast.
At the same time, new storms are circulating from the Val de Loire Center to the Ardennes through the Ile-de-France. In some places they are accompanied by heavy rain, hail and strong gusts of wind. These storms are expected to be much more severe than severe this Saturday, especially in the Paris basin all the way to Hautes-de-France, justifying an orange level warning.
Our storm warning will continue into Sunday, reaching into the Northeast, gradually pushing back the heat wave.
