Utah Wildfires: U-Haul Offers 30 Days of Free Storage for Iron and Cottonwood Fire Evacuees

SALT LAKE CITY, June 26, 2026–(BUSINESS WIRE) –Six U-Haul® locations in Utah are offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box® container use to residents affected by the Iron and Cottonwood Fires, two man-made wildfires that have burned a combined 110,000 acres.

The Iron Fire burned more than 40,000 acres in Juab and Tooele counties and forced the complete evacuation of Eureka. The fire started on June 19 south of Boulter Peak and was 27% contained as of Friday morning. This led to the closure of US Highway 6.

The Cottonwood Fire burning in Beaver County has spread to more than 70,000 acres with zero containment and destroyed the Eagle Point Resort. Mandatory evacuations remain in effect for several communities east of Beaver.

Access to self-storage devices and portable storage containers is vital for communities in the event of natural disasters. U-Haul is here to help anyone impacted by wildfires who needs a secure storage solution, free for one month.

Free 30-day offer applies to new storage units and U-Box rentals and is subject to availability. The U-Box offering is for on-site storage at participating properties; Delivery is possible for a reasonable fee.
