For the first time in the new (home) shirts
The Cup opener will feature the Red Bulls’ first appearance in their new (home) kit, which was officially unveiled today and is inspired by the design of renowned Salzburg physicist Christian Doppler and the Doppler effect named after him. Dynamic graphic elements reflect the movement of sound waves and symbolize the team’s energetic, attacking style of play. At the same time, the design creates a clear connection with the city of Salzburg and its innovative potential. Red, white and red details on the collar and sleeves further highlight the club’s Austrian identity.
FC Red Bull Salzburg thus continues this trend, as the away jersey is already inspired by Salzburg’s great personality, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Oberwart is just around the corner
In total, the 32 away teams in the first round will cover approximately 15,280 kilometers for their matches and the journey home, of which Salzburg will have to cover 784 kilometers.
The Red Bulls will play one of 14 games on Saturday against Eastern League club Oberwart in Burgenland, coached by ex-Bundesliga player Gernot Plassnegger (at Rapid, Austria Wien, Admira Wacker, HAK, Wolfsburg, Hansa Rostock and others).
Of course they want to return to Salzburg with qualification to the next round, as Christian Zawieszycki says: “The anticipation for this first game of the season is huge. You train long and hard and eventually wait until you can start again.”
The goalkeeper knows about the opponent: “We goalkeepers have already carried out a brief analysis of Oberwart. And what can be said is that we have to face a very strong and stable opponent, who can also be very stubborn. I hope it’s a good game with the right winner.”
For Salzburg coach Danny Rohl, this is the first competitive game with his new club, which he is looking forward to after about five weeks of preparation: “It’s good that it starts now. I think the last few weeks have been very intense and the boys have performed very well. We delivered a lot of content, achieved very good results in the test matches and are overall very pleased. we want to succeed.”
Regarding the cup tie with Oberwart, the German explains: “Of course we have to show our performance and bring everything we have worked on in training onto the pitch. We have an opponent who will put everything into it, play very emotionally and make life difficult for us. These are always stumbling blocks in the cup against a club with a lower level of performance. And they just need to be overcome. We are well prepared for this and I am optimistic that we will show a good game at the weekend – knowing well that the opponent is very made life difficult for one of our league rivals last year.”
