PlayTime’s Vintage and DarkMago are currently suspended from the Dota 2 Esports World Cup due to an integrity investigation.
The Dota 2 Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 survival stage has been thrown into limbo after two members of the South American team 
Game time have been temporarily suspended amid an ongoing integrity investigation. The interested parties are the team’s sports director, Juan “Vintage” David Angulo Nichoand average player 
Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera.
PlayTime should have met 
Vichi Gaming in the Survival Stage series last night, but the match was postponed indefinitely after tournament organizers announced that an “integrity issue has been identified and escalated.”
Hours later, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC), an integrity partner at EWC 2026, confirmed it had opened an investigation into “alleged violations of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code and Player Code of Conduct,” specifically naming Vintage and DarkMago.
Both individuals are currently “barred from directly or indirectly participating in EWC 2026 and all ESIC member activities while the investigation continues.” However, ESIC stressed that at this stage “no final determination of guilt has been made.”
What happened to the Vici Gaming vs PlayTime match?
Yesterday, July 14, the first round of the survival stage started at Dota 2 EWC. However, the final series of the day between Vici Gaming and PlayTime was postponed after tournament organizers flagged an integrity issue, indicating potential concerns about cheating, misconduct or other activities that could jeopardize the integrity of the competition.
While the announcement remained vague for several hours, ESIC issued a full statement this morning confirming that Vintage and DarkMago have been suspended and are the subjects of an ongoing investigation.
With both individuals banned from competing during the investigation, the Vici Gaming vs PlayTime series remains suspended. As a result, the survival stage cannot continue without the winner of the match.
According to the original schedule, the series was scheduled to take place on July 14, with the final round scheduled to take place on July 15, starting a few hours later. It remains unclear how the delay will affect the Dota 2 EWC schedule.
UPDATE: According to EVK websitePlayTime lost the match against Vici Gaming and were eliminated from the tournament. Meanwhile, Vici Gaming advances to the final round of the Survival Stage and will take on Team 1w.
Why are PlayTime members suspended?
Both Vintage and DarkMago have been suspended, preventing them from participating in EWC 2026 and all ESIC member events. In addition, Vintage was prohibited from performing any coaching or management duties or other “support functions” related to participating teams or players in the event.
ESIC explained the reason for this decision in the following statement:
“The temporary suspensions were imposed following ESIC’s preliminary assessment of information regarding alleged violations of the ESIC Anti-Corruption Code and Player Code of Conduct.
The measures are protective and preventive in nature. They are intended to protect the integrity of competition, preserve relevant evidence and support the fair and efficient conduct of the ESIC investigation.”
ESIC emphasized that these measures are purely temporary and do not constitute an admission of wrongdoing. At this stage, neither Vintage nor DarkMago have been found guilty of any wrongdoing.
A look at PlayTime and how the team qualified for the Dota 2 EWC
PlayTime is a relatively new entity in the Dota 2 scene, formed as part of the Philippine online gambling platform’s efforts to reach a wider audience through esports. In January 2026, the company entered the competitive gaming landscape by acquiring a star-studded roster from Southeast Asia that included players such as 
Kim Villafuerte “Gabby” Santos And Armel Paul “Arms” Tabios. However, after a short and disappointing stay, the organization released its roster in March before signing the former Peruvian player.

Thanks to the new roster, PlayTime placed in the top 6 of the 29th season of the DreamLeague, earning enough points to directly qualify for the Dota 2 Esports World Championship. The team barely made it through the group stage and reached the survival stage. However, an ongoing investigation into the integrity of two team members has impacted their campaign, with the EWC website confirming the team’s defeat, resulting in them being eliminated from the tournament in 13th-16th place.
