I’ve been playing with Instagram DMs from time to time between posts and it still seems to be having issues. When I send a message, it doesn’t seem to be delivered to the recipient; instead, it remains in the stream unsent. Also, when I scroll up the thread, I see the error “Unable to load old posts.”
Although some people say it’s working again, I’m definitely not one of those people as I’m still having problems. It’s clear that Instagram isn’t fully operational yet.

This is the first time Downdetector’s Instagram reports have been updated without a significant increase. Instead, it increased by less than 100, creating the first leveling we’ve seen since the outage began.

“No known issues”

The Meta status page still shows “No known issues”. Even though it’s obvious something is wrong based on the number of posts, for some reason Meta doesn’t say anything publicly.
We have reached out to the social network and will let you know if we receive a response.

The messenger is still rising

While the predominant user reports seem to be on Instagram direct messages, we’ve also seen a surge in the main Meta Messenger app, surpassing 1,000 reports.

More than 3000 reports

Instagram exceeded 3,000 posts for the first time since the outage began. Apparently more users are logging in and finding they can’t send direct messages, leaving them frustrated and forced to take to Downdetector to tell the world about it.
Hopefully this is just a minor glitch that Meta will fix as soon as possible, but we’ll keep you updated as it develops.

Judging by the comments section on Downdetector, it appears that the main problem is direct messages on Instagram, which may explain why we’ve also seen a sharp increase in reports on Messenger. If you’re having trouble sending private messages on Instagram, know that you’re not alone as it’s a fairly common problem.

It’s all meta at the top of Downdetector, but it’s a little deceiving since Instagram is the only one with over 1000 reports. Other meta services are worth considering, but they are lower.

Reports are coming in

We’ve seen a huge spike in Instagram posts about Downdetector, with over 2,500 people taking to the outage site to say something is wrong with their favorite social network.
We’re also seeing a smaller spike in Meta’s other social networks: Messenger has about 500 reports and Facebook has 300.
