When Armie Hammer returns to the screen, Citizen Vigilante teamed up with the perfect platform for their streaming debutโฆ no, not The Daily Wire.
On Thursday, X owner Elon Musk uploaded Uwe Bollโs complete action film to the platform formerly known as Twitter, making it available to watch in its entirety within 48 hours, a week after the filmโs theatrical, digital and on-demand release.
Musk released the film after Ball announced a limited engagement. โHere it is. This is Uwe Boll, director of Citizen Vigilante. The hour is up, the film is now available on X for 48 hours. Enjoy,โ the writer/director said in a video posted on the social platform.
IN Citizen VigilanteHammer plays a wealthy American businessman turned vigilante who hunts down violent criminals and corrupt judges in Croatia.
According to The Telegraph, the film was actually banned in Ballโs native Germany due to its depictions of extreme violence and seemingly anti-immigrant message. Ball noted that audiences โwill only be able to watch it if you bring the Blu-ray from Austria or Switzerlandโ as Germanyโs rating system will not give it a rating.
Ball believes the film is โincredibly timely,โ telling the publication: โI hope the film will be released in the UK sooner rather than later because I know there is a lot of interest and response in America.
โNowadays in Europe people avoid making these kinds of hard-hitting political films, but I have always tried to introduce politics into genre films,โ the controversial director added. โItโs not a documentary, itโs a thriller and I hope audiences respond to it.โ
The film will also mark Hammerโs first starring role since LAPD investigated allegations of rape and sexual assault against the actor. Although he was dropped from several projects and his representation, Hammer maintained his innocence and ultimately no charges were brought against him.
