Cartoon Network Legend Is No Longer Streaming (But Here's How You Can Still Watch)

Tom and Jerry Gocko was recently removed from HBO Max’s streaming library, but unfortunately for animation enthusiasts, this quirky anime original wasn’t the streaming service’s only big loss. Throughout the platform’s recent history, Warner Bros has dropped some major properties from its roster as fans continue to wonder if anything is safe from the axe. Animated series, including Infinity Train, Looney Tunes, Close Enough, Powerpuff Girlsand countless others have either found new streaming homes or been erased from the digital world entirely. Unfortunately, one of Cartoon Network’s biggest series has left HBO Max, although thankfully Genndy Tartakovsky’s early masterpiece can still be found online.

Samurai Jack has long been considered one of Tartakovsky’s best works, focusing on the titular character as he tries to survive in a dystopian future to save his past and defeat the nefarious Aku. After the first four seasons on Cartoon Network, it moved to Adult Swim to present a final season that was much gorier and more mature than its predecessors. The animated original received a download from HBO Max, but thankfully can still be found on Adult Swim’s website and mobile app, allowing fans to stream the entire series for free. At the time of writing this article, it has not yet been revealed whether Samurai Jack will be released on a new platform, but you can return to the series by clicking here.

For those who may have missed Jack’s original awesome adventure, the Cartoon Network original series was seen by many fans as a show that would never get a proper ending. Luckily, Tartakovsky had other ideas, as the animator would be returning for Adult Swim’s fifth and final season, nearly thirteen years after the original series finale. The original four-season series ended on a cliffhanger in 2004, with Adult Swim releasing a fifth season in 2017. Airing on the Adult Swim platform, Samurai Jack managed to introduce some much more mature themes in its grand finale, such as Jack fighting his way through human opponents and fighting his subconscious desire to end it all.

If you think Samurai Jack a sequel will happen, the final ending certainly doesn’t hint at that possibility. After the end of the fifth season, Tartakovsky himself switched to other projects, including Unicorn: Eternal Warriors, Fixed, Primaland much more. Earlier this summer, Gendy announced the big news that he was creating a new animated version of the legendary warrior. Conan the Barbarianwhich would fit in nicely with the animator’s other works.
