Amenda and Amaimuni continue to participate in the World Cup tournament
Aurel Amenda and Ayube Amaimouni-Etchguyab reached the knockout stages with their national teams at the World Cup. However, in the third preliminary round game both were left without playing minutes. Amenda, who has not yet played in the tournament, watched from the bench as his Switzerland teammates beat Canada 2-1. Former Frankfurt player Djibril Sow (now Sevilla) played 75 minutes for the Swiss. Switzerland finished top of Group B with seven points thanks to their second win. โJuppโ Amaimouni-Etchguyab, who played just 17 minutes in total in the games against Scotland and Brazil, was fully rested against Haiti. His Moroccan compatriots eventually beat the scoreless outsiders 4-2 to finish second in Group C.
