West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha in eastern India will experience heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds, the IMD said. An extremely heavy rain warning has been issued in Sikkim and sub-Himalayan parts of West Bengal.

The effect of the monsoon will be seen in various states of India on July 8th. There is a chance of heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected during this period, as well as lightning and strong winds. Also, heavy rainfall will occur over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Rajasthan, while moderate rainfall will occur over Eastern Uttar Pradesh. In south India, moderate to heavy rainfall will occur in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Strong winds may blow in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. A flood-like situation may occur in the northern and eastern states. There is a risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall in the western and southern states. Farmers and travelers are advised to remain vigilant.

Red alert for heavy rain in Delhi

Delhi received heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon, providing some relief from the humidity and heat. The IMD has issued a red alert for rain and strong winds across the city. According to the weather forecast, a red alert has been issued in parts of North Delhi. Moderate rain is possible in many places, with heavy rain in places, thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds of up to 70 km/h. An orange alert has been issued for the rest of Delhi. These areas will see moderate rain in most places, as well as thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast at many places in Western Uttar Pradesh and at some places in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain is expected at isolated places in the western part of the state.

Some relief after heavy rain in Mumbai
