As part of the prevention, surveillance and control of the area carried out by the patrols of the Padua Police Headquarters, with a particular focus on anti-crime activities, the police officers tracked down a 53-year-old Tunisian who had been in Italy for 18 years, with numerous precedents of drug trafficking, injury, theft, robbery and resistance to a public official, wanted as the recipient of a prison order issued by the prosecutor’s office at the trial Padua, with a final sentence of imprisonment of 2 years and 7 months.
Already in 2008, a Tunisian was arrested red-handed for bodily harm, attempted robbery and resistance for attacking a private security guard in charge of public service, as well as for attempting to take away his pistol, and in the same year he was again arrested by police officers from the Padua police headquarters because he resisted with force and threats against employees after he was caught with several grams of a narcotic substance such as hashish.
Sentenced in 2010 on the same facts to 10 months in prison, he also received a preventive measure in the form of a verbal warning, and in 2011 he was again arrested for drug trafficking, as well as for violence and threats against a public official.
A few years later, in 2019, a Tunisian national became the protagonist of a brutal attack on the street on an English tourist who, after she had parked her car in Piazza Rabin and went to the parking machine, while waiting for the payment of change for the amount paid, she was approached by a man who took her change for a total of 8 euros, and as soon as the woman was ordered to return it to him, grabbed his bicycle and forcibly threw it towards the victim, striking him hard on the right leg.
Immediately after the presentation of the facts, he was arrested and subsequently sentenced by the Padua Court of First Instance to 2 years and 7 months in prison, a sentence that came into final force in April 2025.
The wanted man was identified by police in the late afternoon of Monday, July 6, at the Giotto Center, and after being taken to the police station for identification, he was taken to the Padua prison where he will serve his sentence.
