Coronation Street spoilers for next week reveal an intriguing new storyline centered around Joseph Brown.
Joseph, portrayed by William Flanagan, is the son of Chesney Winter-Brown and Kathy Armstrong. Sadly, back in 2017, Katie, who moved to Portugal in 2015 with Joseph to be with her mum Linda Hancock, died off-screen in a fatal car accident.
Joseph subsequently returned to Britain and settled on the cobbles to live with his father Chesney. From then on, Joseph’s grandmother Linda, played by Jacqueline Leonard, visited the cobbles from Portugal from time to time and financed Joseph’s place at the local private school.

However, recent spoilers suggest that the situation could change dramatically. In the following scenes, Joseph hands Chesney and Gemma his school report before hurriedly leaving.
The couple are soon shocked to learn that Joseph is regularly late turning in his homework, raising serious concerns about how he is coping with his studies.
Later in the week, Gemma confides in her mother Bernie Winter that Joseph is struggling to get through his homework as the hustle and bustle of their busy household makes it almost impossible for him to concentrate.

Joseph has four siblings – Aled, Bryn, Llio and Carys – after Chesney and Gemma welcomed quadruplets in 2019.
Always a problem solver, Bernie suggests that Joseph use her house as a quiet place to study, much to Chesney and Gemma’s relief and gratitude.
However, the couple’s troubles are just beginning as Chesney later breaks devastating news to Gemma that Linda’s holiday rental business has collapsed and she can no longer pay Joseph’s tuition bills.

The family continues to worry about Joseph’s future education as Chesney reveals to Gemma that he is considering taking out a loan to cover his son’s education costs. Meanwhile, Bernie is shocked at the prospect of the family falling further into debt, given their already dire financial situation.
As the week ends, Gemma and Chesney tell Joseph that Linda has been in touch with him and has somehow managed to scrape together the money to pay for his school fees. But will everything go smoothly and how long will Joseph’s fees be covered?
