CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Search and rescue efforts continue after a vulnerable 6-year-old boy went missing in Riverdale.

His family believes he left the apartment around 11 a.m. and they haven’t seen him since.

Channel 2’s Corey James was on scene at an apartment complex in Riverdale WSB tonight at 11:00 pm

Around 8 p.m., members of the Clayton County Police Dive Team were on a nearby lake searching for 6-year-old Ramon Jett, identified as R.J.

Family members say the young child has autism and ADHD.

They say he was here at his sister’s apartment while their mother was at work.

According to RJ’s mom, after the family woke up around 1 p.m., he was gone.

“It’s really hard not knowing where to look. We’ve looked everywhere and we’re just hoping someone sees him,” said Ashley Harris, RJ’s mom. “We’re just praying for good news.”

“As far as I’m concerned, this is not their home,” said Maj. Frank Thomas of the Clayton County Police. “They stayed here for a while, but a normal house had high locks on the doors, so he just couldn’t open a regular handle. But this house had secure door handles that he could manipulate.”

The boy, who was last seen, was wearing a green shirt and camouflage shorts. His weight is listed as 40 pounds and his height is 3 feet 5 inches.

Clayton County Police reported this afternoon that the child was non-verbal.

Neighbors say the child is with a popsicle.

“Due to his condition, he may be unable to communicate or seek help, and officers are deeply concerned for his safety. Every minute is critical,” Clayton County police said.

People in the area, especially near the 8000 block of Webb Road, are urged to check yards, driveways, outbuildings, wooded areas and other areas where someone may be seeking shelter.

If you see RJ, call 911.

“Your call may help him return home safely,” Clayton County police said.
