Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey, whose joyful and public courtship played out in the blockbuster rom-com, have tied the knot, marking a new era for the singer who has risen to the top of the pop pyramid for two decades with her musical musings on girlhood and broken hearts.

Swift’s rep confirmed to CNN that Swift and Kelsey got married on Friday.

The couple didn’t have a traditional lineup of bridesmaids or groomsmen, opting to have Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, be her “man of honor” and Kelsey’s brother, Jason Kelsey, serve as his best man.

The ceremony, which took place in Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000 guests, was officiated by actor and friend of the couple Adam Sandler.

The screens outside the Garden read “MARRIED ONLY” in purple.

Swift and Kelsey wore formal looks designed by Jonathan Anderson for Christian Dior Haute Couture. Swift and Kelsey worked “closely” with the designer on these looks. They both wore custom Christian Louboutin shoes, and Swift accessorized her look with Cartier jewelry.

This milestone culminates a romance that plays out in front of the public, from a missed date, a meet-cute mentioned in a podcast, to an Eras Tour scene and a pair of Super Bowls.

The marriage also follows weeks of intense speculation about how and where the couple will celebrate what has become America’s royal wedding, with rumors that Swift and Kelsey’s big day could take place anywhere other than the singer’s home. Rhode Island is home to Madison Square Garden, which has been buzzing with preparations in recent days with the couple’s star-studded guest list arriving on Friday.

The couple started dating in 2023. The two initially met after Kelsey opened up about his frustrations with how he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet at her Kansas City stop on the Eras Tour, but was denied access to the singer at the time. Swift later colorfully described the move as “metal from hell.”
