When Jurgen Klinsmann (61) was recently asked about his favorite to win the World Cup, the 1990 world champion surprisingly replied: “Brazil. There is something we need to pay attention to. Thanks to Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilians have hired one of the three best coaches in the world.”

It was the end of May 2025. The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) proudly introduced Carlo Ancelotti (67) to the world. A collector of titles at club level, winning the Champions League five times with Milan and Real Madrid. Since then, the world record holder’s performance curve has gone up.

The reward for Ancelotti: an early extension of his contract until 2030 ahead of the start of the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada. BILD am SONNTAG has learned the new content of the agreement: Ancelotti’s annual salary has been increased again. He initially received a basic salary of ten million euros per year – gross. This should now amount to ten million euros net. There is also a title bonus of up to seven million euros. This makes him the highest paid coach in the world. VM.

Ancelotti is provided with a bulletproof limousine

That’s not all: the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) provides him with a bulletproof limousine in Brazil, free flights to Europe and elsewhere, and pays for Ancelotti to have a beautiful luxury apartment overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Barra da Tijuca. The Rio de Janeiro area, where the CBF is also based, is not considered as hectic as Copacabana or Ipanema. He was able to do it there a few months before the World Championships, when he was in Brazil was to recharge the batteries and develop ideas. Especially when he walks along the beach wearing a cap in the early morning so that he is not easily recognized. Because his mission is clear: Ancelotti must lead Brazil to the title after a 24-year drought.

The plan with Ancelotti seemed to have worked, and the South Americans easily qualified for the World Cup playoffs. Ancelotti managed to push mavericks such as Vinicius Junior (25) to their best performances at the Selesão. The Real Madrid striker scored four goals. And one more thing: the former Bayern coach formed a close-knit team of many stars.

Ancelotti sought to get closer to the team from the very beginning. It was important for him to give a speech to the players in Portuguese. So he took an intensive course with four lessons a week for two months. This was well received by the team and association officials, as was his treatment of the players.

“Carlo Ancelotti is an incredible leader who is level-headed and includes people,” says national team manager Rodrigo Caetano (56). “He is also a professional who delegates and does not exaggerate small problems that arise in everyday life.”
