Liam Rosenior returns to football management at Paris after being fired Chelsea in April.

The 41-year-old was at Stamford Bridge for less than four months but has returned to France on a two-year deal that is understood to include the option of a further season.

Rosenior, who played for Strasbourg before joining Chelsea, will replace Antoine Kombouare after PSG finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.

The club, owned by the Arnault family, with Red Bull a minority shareholder, is aiming to achieve more.

Paris FC said Rosenior was appointed to the position due to his “vast experience at the highest level”, his ability to develop young talent and his commitment to “engaging and attacking football”.

Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge in January after the current Manchester City manager disagreed with members of the club’s hierarchy.

After an encouraging start, form soon waned and Rosenior lost each of his last five Premier League matches, with Chelsea failing to score a single goal.

However, he remains highly regarded for his work at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, who finished seventh in the 2024/25 season and qualified for the UEFA Conference League with the youngest team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Rosenior began his coaching career with Brighton’s under-23s before moving to Derby County, first as Wayne Rooney’s assistant and then as caretaker manager.

In 2022, he was appointed head coach of Hull City and led the team to 15th place in the Championship in his first season and then seventh in his second, but was sacked after missing out on the play-offs.

Chelsea replaced Rosenior with former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, with the ex-Spain midfielder becoming the sixth permanent manager at Stamford Bridge in four years under BlueCo.
