Cyclone Bernadette has already begun to affect the weather in Tatarstan. In the coming days it will bring cold temperatures, rain, thunderstorms and increased wind to the republic. The temperature in the region will drop approximately 2 degrees below the climate norm, the head of the hydrometeorological center of the Republic of Tatarstan said in a conversation with a BUSINESS Online correspondent Felix Gogol.

“The front part of the cyclone can already be said to be affecting the territory of the republic. The central part will pass further, then it will shift further to the east, and we will gradually find ourselves in the rear part of the cyclone,” Gogol said.
According to him, the next week in Tatarstan will be characterized by unstable weather. At night the temperature will be between plus 12–17 degrees, during the day – plus 20–25 degrees. On July 15-16, a further decrease in temperature is expected: at night to plus 11-14 degrees, during the day – to 19-25 degrees.
The weather will be accompanied by rain, showers and thunderstorms. In some areas, hail and wind speeds up to 15–20 m/s are possible. If conditions worsen, the weather center will issue storm warnings.
According to Gogol, June in Tatarstan turned out to be cooler than usual by about 1 degree and much more humid. The amount of precipitation exceeded the norm throughout the republic. In the Arsky region, 2.5 times the normal precipitation fell, in Kazan – 160%.
The first ten days of July, on the contrary, were 2-3 degrees warmer than normal, Gogol said. At the same time, precipitation was distributed unevenly: the largest amount of rain fell in the eastern regions of the republic. In Mendeleevsk, by July 13, about 80 mm of precipitation fell—about one and a half monthly norms.
According to him, since the beginning of 2026, 9 dangerous meteorological phenomena have been registered in Tatarstan. Among them are strong winds, fog, abnormal heat and waterlogging of the soil. On average, about 17–18 such phenomena are recorded in the republic per year.
The maximum wind speed in June reached 25–26 m/s. At the same time, tornadoes, which are rarer for Tatarstan, are not among the main summer risks, Gogol explained. The most common dangers in the region are strong winds, squalls and large hail with a diameter of 2 centimeters or more.
Previously, head of the short-term forecasts department of the hydrometeorological center of Russia Alexander Golubev reported that the Atlantic cyclone Bernadette, which caused a storm in the Kaliningrad region, is moving towards the Volga region and the Urals, but it is already losing strength.
On July 11, Moscow was hit by heavy rain, which caused massive delays of flights to the capital of the Russian Federation at Kazan airport. Squally winds, thunderstorms and lightning were observed in some areas of the city. Residents of the capital also reported hail on social networks. The media wrote that in the south of the city two men were struck by lightning. In Verkhny Susalny Lane, several tram routes were suspended due to a fallen tree. In addition, the wind tore off the roof of the veranda of one of the restaurants. According to media reports, a tornado destroyed a dog shelter, as a result of which 6 animals disappeared, one dog was crushed to death by a tree.
In addition, a powerful tornado hit the Uchalinsky district of Bashkortostan. The disaster damaged power lines and residential buildings, left some settlements without electricity and disrupted gas supplies.
