Adam Ramsay-Petey, son-in-law of chef Gordon Ramsay, made his commitment to his new family clear by making a “special” move at the Commonwealth Games.
The three-time Olympic swimmer, 31, debuted his new surname on his swimming cap during England training, seven months after marrying Ramsay’s daughter, Holly Ramsay-Petey, 26.

Holly, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, reacted to the news on Instagram, calling it “so special”.
Considered by many to be the best swimmer in British history, Adam will compete in his fourth Commonwealth Games this week, hoping to defend his 2022 gold medal in the 50m breaststroke.
Adam and Holly married on December 27, 2025, amid a public row with his own parents, who were not present at the wedding.
Adam’s sister Bethany was reportedly the only member of Petey’s family to attend the wedding.
The fallout is rumored to have erupted after Adam’s mother Caroline didn’t receive an invite to Holly’s hen party.
The bride then shared photos of the weekend celebrations, which were attended by her mother, sisters and several close friends, including close Ramsay family friend Victoria Beckham.
An Instagram user who identified herself as Holly’s aunt, Louise Williams, commented on a post criticizing Holly’s refusal to invite her future mother-in-law.
“You have caused my sister pain that will take a very long time to heal, if ever,” she wrote.

Upon returning from his stag party, Adam was met by police at Manchester Airport amid fears he would be attacked over alleged threatening messages from his brother James.
Adam’s mother, Caroline, later gave an interview to the publication Daily mailclaiming Adam stopped her from wearing a planned cream-colored dress to the wedding because it was too close to white.

She complained that her son was “in Gordon’s clutches.”
“I can’t help but feel like they’re pulling him away from me. Their family is very private,” she said of Ramsay.
