At the beginning of the evening, Thursday 23 July 2026, relief Sainte-Mère-Eglise (Some), CarentanA Dragon 50 civil security helicopter and a Samou de la Manche aircraft were mobilized as a result of a traffic accident on Rue de Liberation in Chef-du-Pont (devolved commune of Sainte-Mère-Eglise).
Attempted resuscitation
A few minutes earlier, man 55 years old answercyclist, was found by a witness in a ditch with cardiopulmonary arrest. At 7 p.m., rescuers were still trying to revive the victim. She was subsequently transported in a “seriously injured” condition by Dragon 50 to the Pasteur Hospital in Cherbourg. At the moment, the circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
