After a supposedly leaked image of the new Casio G-Shock x Pokémon watch circulated across the internet over the weekend, the Japanese watchmaker has officially announced its newest collaboration watch. Although there have been several Pokémon G-Shock watches in the past, they were all part of the Baby-G line, so this is the first time there has been a full-size Pokémon G-Shock model. It’s an exciting release, but it won’t be easy to get.

Using the brand’s signature G-SHOCK GA-110, a design known for its large dial and hybrid analog-digital functionality, this new collaboration watch is a colorful creation of red, green and blue. The colors are a reference to the titles of the first two games in the franchise (Pocket Monsters Red And Pocket monsters green in Japan and Pokemon Red And Pokemon Blue at the international level).

The watch features Pokémon branding, including a PokéBall-like sub-dial with a small yellow silhouette of Pikachu, the Pokémon logo is engraved on the caseback, and the watch’s resin strap features images of each starter Pokémon from the first to the ninth generation, as well as Pikachu and Eevee. As an Easter egg, the strap features a small icon of the mythical Pokémon Mew, a fan favorite.

As a collector’s item, the watch comes in a special box that looks exactly like the PokéBall. Unfortunately, with charm and specialized design comes exclusivity: the watch will be sold through a lottery on the official Casio website. The lottery will take place in Japan from July 1 to July 6 and will cost ¥33,000 (£150). An international release has yet to be confirmed, but given the popularity of the franchise and previous Pokémon G-Shock watches, we have a feeling it could hit more markets in the coming months.
