Arthur Rinderknech vs. Novak Djokovic: forecast and odds for the third round of Wimbledon

Seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic faces an interesting match against No. 25 player Arthur Rinderknech in the third round of this year’s tournament.

It’s Arthur Rinderknech’s second-ever third-round exit at Wimbledon and he looks a huge underdog against Djokovic, who made quick work of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round on Wednesday.

Djokovic is one of the leading candidates to win this year’s tournament and he is hoping to bounce back from an early exit from Roland Garros earlier this year.

Rinderknech has reached the last 16 (or fourth round) of a Grand Slam tournament only once in his career, so defeat on Friday would mark one of the greatest performances of his career.

Will he be able to do it?

Let’s look at the odds, each player’s history at Wimbledon and my prediction for the match.

Arthur Rinderknech vs Novak Djokovic. History and performance at Wimbledon.

Arthur Rinderknech

Rinderknech reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2025, but overall he had little success at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The 30-year-old has three first-round exits, as well as a second-round exit, and has reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament only once in his career (2025 US Open).

So far at Wimbledon in 2026, Rinderknech has knocked out Oliver Tarvet (in four sets) and Martin Damm Jr. (in two sets).

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic is a legend and has won the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club seven times in his career. The 39-year-old last won Wimbledon in 2022, although he was runner-up in 2023 and 2024 before losing in the semi-finals in 2025.

In the first round, Djokovic needed four sets to defeat Yibing Wu, winning 6-4, 7-5, 6-4, 6-4. He then beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

This is the first meeting between Djokovic and 30-year-old Rinderknech.

Arthur Rinderknech vs Novak Djokovic: forecast and choice

Djokovic dropped a set in his first-round match, but he dominated Tsitsipas on Wednesday. There is a chance the 39-year-old may have one more Grand Slam title left in him, especially with Carlos Alcaraz (wrist) missing at Wimbledon.

There is no history to look at between Djokovic and Rinderknech, but it is difficult to make a case for Rinderknech as he has only reached the round of 16 of a Grand Slam once in his career.

After winning just four games more than Yibing Wu in the first round, Djokovic easily covered his playing advantage in the second round match by winning seven more games than Tsitsipas. If you’re not inclined to bet on the seven-time Wimbledon champion winning in straight sets, the lineup might be safer.

Not only will Djokovic be able to get over that line in four sets, but if he wins in two sets in a row, there’s a good chance he’ll do so by a fairly large margin.

Djokovic is 127-21 in his career on grass after going 2-0 at Wimbledon.
