Manchester United are desperate to move on high-paid players this summer to make room for a number of new signings.
Casemiro has already left for Major League Soccer and Marcus Rashford is likely to follow him, despite recent reports of a possible reconciliation.
Jadon Sancho’s departure has freed up the wage bill, with the Red Devils also keen on a move for Andre Onana.
The goalkeeper, who earns £120,000 a week at United, is set to return to Trabzonspor on loan after impressing there last season.
Andre Onana plans to return to Turkey
After Senne Lammens’ heroics in his debut season, there was no place for the error-prone Cameroonian at Old Trafford, so the 20-time English league champions decided to loan him out again.
While INEOS would prefer a permanent solution, there aren’t many clubs willing to pay him a huge salary while also meeting United’s £30m asking price.
Trabzonspor were initially expected to pay the 30-year-old in full, but The Athletic claimed otherwise.
They reported that the Turkish side not only refused the purchase opportunity, but would also pay only part of his salary.
Desperate United forced to agree to shocking loan deal
“Andre Onana is closer to securing a season-long loan at Trabzonspor after making 33 appearances for the Turkish Super League club this season.
“The purchase option will not be included and Trabzonspor will cover part, although not all, of Onana’s salary.”
It just shows how desperate United are; Not the best option, considering that after some time they will have to sell the former Inter Milan ace.
Let’s hope that by saving wages, United will be able to provide quality support for Lammens. Altay Bayindir is also expected to return to Turkey this summer.
The spot for Radek Vitek is open, but a loan exit looks likely, although the possibility of a permanent sale has also not been ruled out.
