It used to be a trilogy, starting in 1981 and ending in 1992. Evil Dead has now grown into a modern franchise, adding three more films since 2013. Evil Dead just hit theaters, three years later Evil Dead: Uprising.
Evil Dead seems like a good counterbalance to live action Moana movie this weekend, and Lord knows horror movies are killing it at the box office this year between Obsession And Utility rooms. But is this good? Well, a hundred critics’ reviews add up to a Rotten Tomatoes score, and now we can compare it to the rest of the series:
- Evil Dead 2 (1987) – 88% critics’ ratings, 89% audience ratings
- Evil Dead (1981) – 85% of critics’ ratings, 84% of audience ratings.
- Evil Dead: Rise (2023) – 85% critics’ ratings, 76% audience ratings
- Evil Dead (2026) – 73% of critics’ ratings, audience rating – no.
- Army of Darkness (1992) – 68% of critics’ ratings, 87% of audience ratings.
- Evil Dead (2013) – 64% of critics’ ratings, 64% of audience ratings.
Evil Dead
Rotten Tomatoes
So, in the bottom half, but as you can see, there was no “rotten” review. Evil Dead franchises have not yet been received by either critics or viewers, which does not happen with horror series. First of all, most of them don’t last that long, and those that do often have films whose quality drops significantly. There’s a bit of an Evil Dead feel to it, but it’s all positive and Evil Dead got great reviews. That’s why this seems like a record: six films, the entire series, received positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. His competition:
- Evil Dead — 6 out of 6 films above 60%
- Halloween – 2 out of 13 films above 60%
- Friday the 13th – 1 out of 12 films above 60%
- Saw – 1 out of 10 films above 60%
- A Nightmare on Elm Street – 3 out of 9 films above 60%
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre – 1 out of 9 films above 60%
- Scream — 5 out of 7 films above 60%
- Paranormal activity – 2 out of 6 films above 60%
- Spell – 2 out of 4 films above 60%
The closest, if that can technically be considered considering disparate films, is George A. Romero’s zombie series The Dead, which has 5 out of 6 films above 60%, with the exception of the 2009 film. Survival of the Dead with a result of 29%. Evil Dead 100% of films have a level above 60%, that is, “fresh”, and this is the entire circulation of the series. And hey, we can even extend this to television because Ash vs Evil Dead The series has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes over its three seasons, which is higher than any other film.
Unlike the Raimi trilogy, Evil Dead 2013, Height And burn Everyone has different directors. Lee Cronin wrote and directed the film Heightbut didn’t return burnjust released less accepted Mummy (which is actually Evil Dead the film you will see if you watch it). Now, Evil Dead is helmed by Sebastian Vanicek, although this time the screenplay is co-written by Sam Raimi. Vanicek made what I would call a shockingly good monster horror movie filled with spiders. Infected back in 2023 (95% score on Rotten Tomatoes). I would definitely look into this. This and burn these are its only two features.
Box office forecast Evil Dead are somewhere between $20 million and $30 million for the weekend, which is significant considering the $250 million budget Moana is predicted at $40-50 million. burn the stated budget is $20 million. This is terrible for you!
