"A brief episode of cold weather." What's in store for next week and the rest of the month in terms of weather?

Florinela Georgescu, director of forecasting at the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), explained on Sunday on Digi24 what the country’s weather will be like next week.

“In the next two to three days we should expect weather comparable to what we had today, that is, minor manifestations of atmospheric instability, showers should be expected only in the afternoon, more likely in mountainous and mountainous areas, but the amount of water should not be of great importance. From a thermal point of view, there will be a slight warming tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” Florinela Georgescu, director of forecasts at ANM, told Digi24.

The meteorologist explained that if on Sunday the maximums rose to 30°C in the west of the country, then on Monday, Tuesday, and maybe even Wednesday, 30-32°C are expected not only in the western regions, but also in the southern ones.

At the same time, she noted that a short-term cooling is expected in the middle of the week. Cooling will be felt on Wednesday in the north of the country, and on Thursday in all regions.

“A cold spell that will keep temperatures above 30°C, stopping around 28°C, starting with 20-22°C in northern and possibly central regions. This short episode of cold weather will also bring more rain, but the good news is that by the end of the week, so next weekend we could be back to values generally between 24 and 32 degrees,” she explained.

“Highest summer temperatures could follow”

“The beginning of the week will bring a new wave of heat to the western regions of the European continent. First the Iberian Peninsula, then France, will be hit by temperatures that could again exceed 40°C, and this heat wave tends to spread towards Central Europe and is expected to affect us in the second half of the month,” the ANM spokesman also said.

According to meteorologist Florinela Georgescu, “July could bring us heatwave temperatures again, so values above 35 °C in the second half of the month, as estimates for the next 4 weeks also show. We could, say, end July and even start August with very high values, above average values for the period, which means there is definitely a signal that we could record the highest summer temperatures during this period.”
