Serena Williams’ hopes of playing alongside older sister Venus in the Wimbledon doubles looked to have increased after a doubles match was added to Saturday’s order of play.
Williams, 44, suffered a knee injury during her return to singles action in Tuesday’s loss to Australia’s Maya Joint.
The sisters, six-time All England Club doubles champions, are planning to reunite on the Grand Slam court for the first time since 2022.
Their match against Colombia’s Camila Osorio and Argentina’s Solana Sierra did not receive a venue, but organizers say it will not be played before 16:30 BST.
It suggests Serena Williams is being given as much time as possible to declare herself fit after her knee swelled during a valiant three-set defeat to 20-year-old Joynt.
Sources close to the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion told BBC Sport on Friday that she plans to play.
It is likely that the Williams sisters, who have been granted a wild card, will be accommodated on one of Wimbledon’s largest exhibition courts after the conclusion of the day’s singles matches.
However, the open schedule leaves Wimbledon without problems if the American superstars do withdraw.
