Artisans are busy working on Sunday before Snana Purnima Bhubaneswar: The annual Debasnan Purnima will be held at the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Monday, while on Sunday the government will adjust major preparations for the grand ritual that precedes the Rath Yatra on July 16.At least 23 rituals will be performed during the festival, with the Sri Jagannath Temple administration issuing clear instructions and cooperating with servitors to maintain discipline and ensure timely completion of each ritual.“We have made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival. Servants have committed to completing the rituals on time. Extensive security and traffic arrangements have been made,” said Arabinda Kumar Padi, chief administrator of SJTA.Early in the morning, the brother deities – Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra – will take a ceremonial bath at the Snan Mandapa (bathing platform) and then appear at Hati Besha in the evening, wearing elephant robes.Following tradition, the idols will then be placed in the Anasara Ghar (a symbolic hospital or isolation room) inside the temple for two weeks, where they are believed to recover from fever after taking a great bath and are treated with Ayurvedic remedies before the Rath Yatra.During this period, although the main deities will remain outside the boundaries for 15 days, their representative images drawn on tussar cloth known as Patti Dian will be worshiped.โPattachitras are an integral part of the temple tradition. The Patti Dianas of Lord Jagannath as Ananta Narayana, Goddess Subhadra as Bhubaneswari and Lord Balabhadra as Ananta Basudeva are worshiped at Anasara Ghar,โ said another senior temple official.Security has been beefed up to cope with the expected influx of devotees. “We are expecting a large number of visitors, same as last year. Smooth darshan and convenience of devotees is our priority. Around 79 platoons have been deployed for crowd control, traffic control and general safety,” Puri SP said.
