Michael Kim finished with four straight birdies to shoot 12-under 59 at the 3M Open on Friday, the first 60-under shot this season.

Kim’s 59 marks the 16th round of 59 or lower in PGA TOUR history. Jake Knapp was the last to do so at the 2025 The Cowlant Classic in Palm Beaches.

Kim made 12 birdies and no bogeys en route to the second round at TPC Twin Cities.

The run began on the third hole with a 13-foot birdie putt, the first of five in a row. This was the longest putt he needed to execute during this run, hitting repeatedly on the approach. Kim added another birdie on the ninth hole to make the turn at 6-under 29 and quickly continued his blistering pace with birdies on the 10th and 12th holes. However, when he reached the 15th hole, he seemed to be too far off the pace and needed to play the last four holes of 4-under play.

He did just that, relying on the putter the entire distance.

Kim made four birdie putts outside 10 feet, including the decisive 24-foot putt for birdie on the 18th, rolling it, raising his arms in the air and slamming his fists.

This result is the best of Kim’s career and sets a new TPC Twin Cities course record.

Kim is an under 14 player with 36 holes and is the current leader.
