So far, only her car, flooded by the river, has been found. When emergency services took the car away, it was empty. In early July, police confirmed to BILD that the car had German license plates. It is not yet known whether the woman traveled to Finland as a tourist or lived there. This image has special meaning for investigators. According to inspector Mikko Pesola of public broadcaster Yle, there are now serious suspicions that the German woman did not survive after water entered her car.

However, a new search operation has not yet begun. Reason: The wilderness around Salla is vast. Dense forests, swamps and countless ponds stretch for many kilometers. Without specific information, a targeted search is unlikely to be possible.
