Nights keep cool

In contrast to the extreme weather of late June with temperatures reaching 40 degrees and tropically hot nights, the nights will become significantly colder in the coming days. Tuesday night, DWD is forecasting temperatures of 17 to 14 degrees inland. From Tuesday to Wednesday only 16-13 degrees of heat is expected. And this should continue all week.

Here’s how to protect yourself in the heat

Weather expert Martin Goodde, from the ARD Center for Meteorological Research, advises avoiding staying in the sun if possible and seeking shade instead. “People have to drink a lot more than usual. Older people often forget this,” Goodde said. His request: open the windows and try to provide a draft – if necessary, with the help of additional fans. He strongly discourages the “close the windows and hang up the wet towels” option. “If you close off rooms, you will gain moisture. This is potentially fatal, especially for older people,” says Goodde. “There is nothing worse than a hot and humid room.”
