Hadestown has brought new performers to the Lyric Theater as the show celebrates its 1,000th performance this week.
The award-winning musical retells the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone. It features music, lyrics and a book by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin.
Olivier Award winner Danielle de Niese will take on the role of Persephone, with Sean Dooley as Hades.
Faith Ifil will play Eurydice, Malinda Parris will play Hermes, and The Wanted member Nathan Sykes will play Orpheus. Newcomers will join the current roster from September 15th.
Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Laurent Ray are the Fates, along with Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Sit as the Workers, and Juan Jackson, Oisin Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triady and Millie Willows as the Swing.
In 2025, the original Broadway cast reunited in London for a limited season, where a live taping of three performances was performed. Participation in a film called Hadestown: The MusicalAndre de Shields as Hermes, WhatsOnStage Award nominee Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone and Patrick Page as Hades. Plans for a UK release have been revealed.
The creative team includes choreographer David Newman, scenic designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Michael Krass, lighting designer Bradley King, sound designers Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, musical director and vocal arranger Liam Robinson, arrangers and orchestrators Michael Chorney and Todd Sicafoose, playwright Ken Cerniglia, UK assistant director Maria Crocker, co-musical directors and assistant music directors Tarek Merchant and George Francis, casting – Jacob. Sparrow and Rob Kelly’s main casting.
The London production is produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy and the National Theater in association with JAS Theatricals.
