Second-round pick Dillon Mitchell scored a game-high 24 points and added eight rebounds and six steals to lead the host Boston Celtics to an 87-75 victory over the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Summer League on Sunday at The Pavilion in Las Vegas.
The Celtics pulled away in the second half, turning a two-point halftime lead into a comfortable win. John Tonye scored 17 points, Hugo Gonzalez had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists and Milos Uzan scored 13 points and had six assists for Boston. First-round pick Chris Cenac Jr. added two points and five rebounds for the Celtics.
Liam McNeely led the Hornets with 20 points and eight rebounds. Charlotte was defeated by 24 turnovers that Boston turned into opportunities on the other end.
Rookie first-round pick Christian Anderson, the No. 18 pick, finished with 13 points for the Hornets. Fellow 2026 first-round pick Hannes Steinbach, the 14th overall pick, added eight points and three rebounds.
Charlotte led 21-17 after the first quarter, but the Celtics rallied to take a 42-40 lead at the half. Boston took control in the third quarter and built its biggest lead of 19 points in the fourth, helped by Mitchell’s all-around play and Hornets mistakes.
