The investigation against the head physician of St. Johannes Hospital in Varel (Friesland region) on charges of sexual abuse has been discontinued. The Oldenburg prosecutor’s office was unable to prove this charge beyond reasonable doubt.
Thus, according to the prosecutor’s office, the student nurse’s testimony and the information provided by the doctor were materially inconsistent. During interrogation by the prosecutor, the student testified that in the elevator of the clinic the doctor touched her breasts and genitals. The doctor said that he did not use the elevator, but always took the stairs. The crime is reported to have occurred in November 2025.
There is not enough evidence to bring charges
According to the prosecutor’s office, during the investigation the persons involved in the case were interrogated. She therefore assumed that the proceedings would not lead to the conviction of the doctor, which is why the proceedings were discontinued. The applicant lodged a complaint about this matter with the Oldenburg prosecutor’s office. Due to the accusations, the specialist was released from the management of the Friesland clinic. He is defending himself against this in the Wilhelmshaven labor court.
