One of the best young guards in the WNBA will take the court tonight and she will be the center of attention for our favorite WNBA players.

The Portland Fire and Washington Mystics square off in tonight’s lone WNBA matchup, and after earning the second All-Star honor of her career, Sonya Citron is on my radar. WNBA Player Props Today.
My WNBA picks for Thursday, July 16th also include a falling player from one of the W’s newest teams.

Sonya Citron Over 20.5 points + assists (-102)
Sonya Citron has quickly become one of the most underrated players in the WNBA. The former third overall pick just earned her second All-Star nod, but against one of the league’s worst defenses, her point and assist totals are simply baffling.
Getting the edge on her points and assists at -102 is a steal, and because of this matchup, I’d play it at anything better than -130.
The Portland Fire’s defense is one of the worst in the WNBA. The Fire have the second-worst defensive rating in the league (112.6), third-worst points per game (91.2) and give up more points per game than any other team (23.5).
Citron ranks in the W’s top 20 in offensive win percentage (1.8), has scored 20.5 points and has five of her last eight assists, including 36 assists the last time she played the Fire.

Bridget Carlton Under 12.5 points (+100)
The Fire’s top pick in the WNBA expansion draft disappointed the Rose City.
Bridget Carlton is among the league’s least efficient offensive players this season, one of just five players on the W’s to average double-digit field goal attempts per game and shoot below 40%.
She has failed to score 13+ points in three straight games and will have no easier time against a Washington Mystics defense that ranks third in the WNBA in defensive rating (102.1) and has the second-highest true shooting percentage in the league (52.9%).
The last time Carlton played Washington, she scored just 16 points in a quadruple overtime game in which she played 51 minutes, so I’d play this game under -110.

Kiki Iriafen Over 10.5 rebounds (-101)
Kiki Iriafen emerged as one of the WNBA’s best rebounders in her second season. The former fourth overall pick ranks top five in the league in rebounding (9.7), rebounding percentage (20.8%) and offensive rebounding percentage (12.3%).
This creates problems for the fire department, which is one of the worst in the league at cleaning glass. Portland is averaging 29.5 rebounds per game, which is the lowest in the league, and gives up the third-most offensive rebounds per game (9.9).
With only one player averaging more than five boards per game in Portland, Emily Engstler (5.5), Iriafen should be well positioned to collect 11+ boards for the sixth time in the last eight games.
Given Portland’s rebounding issues, it’s worth considering an over on Iriathen at odds as low as -120.
