After losing at the ITF German Juniors, Emily Eigelsbach was able to take revenge on the Indian athlete Maaya Rajeswaran at Wimbledon.
On the Wimbledon greens ahead of the opening game, the cards swapped between Rhineland-Palatinate’s Emily Eigelsbach and 16th seed Maya Rajeswaran after the Indian won on clay in the quarter-finals of the ITF German Juniors in Bamberg a few weeks ago and then even won the title.
But 17-year-old Eigelsbach sought revenge from the start on the faster surface, was able to keep the game alive from the start and kept her composure in the closing stages of the first round. In the second set, Bad Kreuznacher completely dominated with her variable play and won after 1:40 hours with a score of 7:5, 6:2. In the second round, either Latvian Adelina Lachinova or American qualifier Emery Combs awaits.
Wobbler ejected after throwing the bat.
Ida Wobker’s day was wasted. Although Lower Saxony was able to improve significantly against Romanian Maria Pop after losing the first round without winning the game, and opening the game with her blistering shots, with the score 5:5 and 30:0 in favor of her opponent in the second set, the DTB player’s disappointment after a backhand too long was so great that she threw her racket onto the grass, and it bounced unexpectedly high and finally landed in the spectator stands, leading to disqualification.
Here is the individual Wimbledon junior standings.
