A tornado warning that was issued for parts of southern Alberta Thursday afternoon has been canceled.
The warning, issued by Environment Canada at 3:32 p.m. and lifted about an hour later, was due to severe thunderstorms observed near Warner, about 65 kilometers southeast of Lethbridge.
The storm, which the Department of Environmental Conservation said may have spawned a tornado, was moving southeast.
The agency said damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall were also possible, and that anyone in the area should take shelter if dangerous weather approaches.
A tornado warning issued at 3:14 p.m. for the surrounding area, including Lethbridge, Fort McLeod and the Willow Creek municipal area, remains in effect.
At 4:38 p.m., a thunderstorm warning was also issued for twenty kilometers east of Del Bonita, approximately 85 kilometers south of Lethbridge.
