Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has ordered the speedy completion of the process of reopening loss-making and closed government factories through domestic and foreign investment.
He gave this instruction at a meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office dedicated to the progress of the process of opening unprofitable and closed state-owned enterprises.
This was announced by Deputy Press Secretary of the Prime Minister Hasan Shiplu.
According to him, at the meeting it was reported that many private companies have expressed interest in investing in these plants. The feasibility of the companies’ proposed industries will now be carefully examined.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, was attended by Minister of Commerce, Industry, Jute and Textiles Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir, Minister of State for Jute and Textiles Shariful Alam, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmood Titumir.
Also present were Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, secretaries of relevant ministries and senior officials of various departments of the Ministry of Industries.
