Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new coach of Al Nasr in the Saudi Pro League, where he will coach Cristiano Ronaldo.

It will be Postecoglou’s first return to management since he was sacked by Nottingham Forest in October after just 39 days in charge. The Saudi club posted on social media that he had signed a two-season contract.

Al-Nasr won the Saudi Pro League last season for the first time since Ronaldo’s high-profile move to the club in 2023.

Head coach Jorge Jesus led the team to the title, but he only had a one-year contract. Current Portugal coach Roberto Martinez, who is currently coaching Ronaldo at the World Cup, has been linked to the role.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Portugal fans in celebrating the team from a hotel balcony after they beat Croatia to qualify for the World Cup.

Postecoglou won the Europa League with Spurs in May 2025 but was sacked the following month. He also previously won the treble with Celtic in two seasons, winning five trophies.
