The Best Movies to Watch on Netflix Right Now (July 10-17, 2026)

When Friday rolls around, I log on to Netflix to see what gets the most plays and drives the most social media activity. I also look at overall popularity, IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes ratings, and my Letterbox watchlist to find four recommended movies each week. Millie Bobby Brown returns for a third round Enola Holmes this week, so let’s watch some detective stories.

Enola Holmes 3

Sometimes you need a movie that prioritizes having fun, and Enola Holmes 3 is just what the doctor ordered for a hot summer weekend, and it confidently topped the Netflix charts worldwide. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Sherlock Holmes’ lesser-known sister, this time preparing for her wedding in Tewkesbury, Malta. But when her brother mysteriously disappears, romance must take a backseat as our adventurous detective unravels a conspiracy surrounding lost Afghan gold. This is a fresh game with an unexpected anti-colonialist message.

  • Director: Philip Baranti

Darling, don’t!

Ethan Coen’s 2025 is a new take on the female detective genre that is still full of wit and energy. Darling, don’t! strives to please. Margaret Qualley plays Honey O’Donoghue, a small-town private detective who learns that a potential client has been murdered. As she begins tracking down suspects, the case brings her into confrontations with a mysterious church, a drug ring, and estranged family members. It’s a real delight.

See you yesterday

For an unusual and unique take on a murder mystery, watch the 2019 film. See you yesterdaywhat time travel brings to the proceedings. When a police officer mistakenly shoots the brother of scientific genius C.J. Walker, she uses her newly invented time machine to go back 24 hours and try to save his life. Needless to say, things are not that simple, and See you yesterday does a lot of clever things with paradoxes while keeping its characters and settings crisp and alive.

Nice girls

French action comedy Nice girls obviously takes inspiration from buddy cop classics like Bad boys but gives the concept a feminine twist that turns out to be very funny. Alice Taglioni and Steffi Selma play Leo and Melanie, a rule-breaking cop and a buttoned-up detective who team up to track down Leo’s missing brother. It’s not a cerebral comedy by any means, but Taglioni has a stunning screen presence and there are plenty of laughs and incredible French scenery to enjoy.
