Sony was meeting with a baseball movie starring Tom Hanks Returnee as of July 30, 2027
The photo, as first reported by Deadline, shows the two-time Oscar winner with director Marielle Heller, who directed the actor in Mister Rogers. A beautiful day in the surrounding area. Hanks was nominated for an Oscar in the supporting actor category for his role as Rogers in the 2019 production of Heller.
Based on a story by Dave Eggers and written by Heller, the film is a love letter to baseball and offers an important role for an up-and-coming leading man. Hanks plays the pitching coach of a major league player whose life is turned upside down when he is hit in the head by a hit on the mound. The devastating comebacker changes his life in every way.
Hanks’ Playtone is produced by Leah Holzer in collaboration with Major League Baseball. Sony beat out two other studios vying for the project.
