Shekhar Suman spoke in his signature satirical manner about the recent wedding of Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt. In the latest episode of his popular YouTube talk show Shekhar Tonite, the host delivered a monologue on the Bollywood superstar’s third wedding that took place earlier this month, calling it a master class in alliance-building for politicians in power.
“This man has given a unique vision to several future generations. And that vision is to chase something until you achieve it,” Shekhar Suman said on his show. He maintained that regardless of profession, a person should touch Aamir Khan’s feet. “Politicians especially have a lot to learn from him. It is often said that politicians know how to create alliances. But they should learn the art of creating alliances with this man,” the presenter added.
Shekhar noted that after Aamir’s first two ‘unions’ – his marriages to Reena Dutta and director Kiran Rao respectively – ended, it is unfortunate that he should call his third union – with Gauri, his partner of over two years – as “Mahagathbandhan(Grand Alliance) “Our government cannot run a double engine smoothly, but now it is using a triple engine,” Shekhar joked.
“Aapne Gauri… one minute… Gauri kya hoga” Shekhar Kapur said, naming Aamir Khan’s third wife while maintaining his trademark wit. He argued that Aamir’s personal life is like that of a driver who maneuvers a trolley at each of the first two stations, adds a third at the next only to add back the first two at the next to form a fully functional train. “His talent is unimaginable. He is unique. It is similar to an engine in which gasoline, ethanol and isobutanol are mixed. But despite this, this locomotive has not yet stalled and is moving smoothly along the rails to a new destination,” Shekhar added.

He also stated that even if no one else could protect his “achchhe din(good old days), Aamir has certainly managed to do it for the third time. “Aamir Khan formed the government for the third time with a complete majority. Is Aamir Khan an NDA government or what? Even PM Modi must be thinking that he has just broken Nehru’s record and now he has a new rival in Aamir Khan,” Shekhar joked.
Shekhar Suman also noted that Aamir Khan’s third wedding took place in a rather “family” atmosphere, in the presence of not only his first two wives, but also the children from his first two wives, as well as from his third wife. While he and Reena are co-parents of entrepreneur Ira Khan and actor Junaid Khan, he and Kiran are co-parents of Azad. Gauri also has a son from a previous marriage. “It’s called Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family),” Shekhar said.
He also said that INDIA (Indian National Inclusive Development Alliance), which has opposition parties including Indian National Congress, Samajwadi Party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, All India Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar, should also learn from Aamir on how to take on former allies in his new alliance.

Aamir Khan’s third marriage

Aamir Khan tied the knot with Gauri Spratt on July 5 in an intimate marriage ceremony held at their Bandra residence in Mumbai among only family members and close friends.
Aamir and Gauri’s children from previous marriages were also present at the event and smiled widely as the couple made their marriage official. Aamir first tied the knot with Reena Dutta in 1986, but they separated in 2002. He then married Kiran Rao in 2005 and announced his separation in 2021. They also have a son, Azad, through surrogacy.
Aamir then reunited with Gauri, whom he first met back in 2001, in Bengaluru in early 2024 through his cousin Nuzhat Khan. They dated for a year before Aamir introduced her to the media as his “partner” ahead of his 60th birthday in March last year. Gauri moved from Bangalore to Mumbai, started living with Aamir and working in his company Aamir Khan Productions.

While Aamir had said last year that getting married at this age would not be good for him, the actor confirmed that he will tie the knot with Gauri in July. However, he continues to not only raise his children with his first two wives, but also work with them in their NGO, Paani Foundation. Kiran is also a member of the board of directors of Aamir Khan Productions.
