Wildlife activist Robert Irwin offered newlyweds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey a quintessentially Aussie deal: a luxury honeymoon at the Australia Zoo’s crocodile house.

The celebrity couple, who recently tied the knot in New York, are now being wooed Down Under with promises of kangaroo care and five-star accommodations starting at $949 a night.

The 22-year-old conservationist spoke to Access Hollywood, highlighting the unique appeal of the Queensland retreat.

“A honeymoon is on the table. I literally have five-star luxury accommodation, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge, at Australia Zoo,” enthuses Robert.

“You have an infinity pool overlooking a paddock full of kangaroos. If that doesn’t say honeymoon, I don’t know what does.”

For those considering a getaway, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge offers cabins starting at $949 per night for a one-bedroom option, with two-bedroom cabins going up to $4,298.

This stunning accommodation is set in stunning scenery where guests can relax by the 25m infinity pool, often spotting kangaroos in the adjoining paddocks.

This is not Robert’s first attempt to lure the famous couple to the iconic Beerwah attraction. Last December, he suggested they consider holding their wedding at the Australia Zoo, describing a “beautiful location overlooking the African savannah with rhinos and giraffes just frolicking in the open air.”

Although the couple opted for a more private ceremony at Madison Square Garden, Robert still hopes for a post-wedding visit, urging them to “don’t hesitate to reach out” to book.

Online viewers quickly supported Robert’s proposal.

“If you promise Travis he’ll meet an otter, he’ll instantly say yes,” one person commented.

“Forget Disney, Australia Zoo is the happiest place on earth. Absolutely nothing beats walking among koalas, kangaroos and the rest of the animals living their best lives,” another commented, while a third said: “Okay, but Travis will definitely challenge you to wrestle a crocodile.”

Strategic marketing move

Robert’s high-profile invitation comes as the Irvine family steps up its efforts to promote Australia Zoo’s hospitality business, which is critical to its financial recovery from the severe impact of the pandemic.

Sister Bindi Irwin also actively promoted Warrior Restaurant & Bar and The Crocodile Hunter Lodge through a series of Instagram videos.

Earlier this year, Bindi encouraged followers to “order an amazing breakfast, lunch or dinner” or “come to my favorite place on Earth, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge,” showing off the location’s stunning views with husband Chandler Powell.

The family’s renewed focus on the hospitality industry comes amid significant financial difficulties.

In 2020, Bindi revealed that her late father Steve’s legacy was “close to the brink” as the zoo struggled to stay afloat during the Covid lockdown.

The Australia Zoo was closed for 78 days, but the cost of caring for the animals was still around $80,000 a week.

Reports on Women’s Day in January 2021 said the zoo was “not out of business”, especially due to its heavy reliance on international tourism during border closures.

As recently as 2025, Star quoted a source suggesting the family was still “recovering from this upheaval and trying to get out of debt,” with matriarch Terri Irwin reportedly looking toward the future with “great trepidation.”

In response, the Irwins strategically positioned the Lodge and Warrior Restaurant & Bar as key sources of income, seeking to diversify revenues and ensure the long-term sustainability of their conservation efforts.
