Plex services experienced major problems on Tuesday, with several users reporting issues on the Plex forums and Reddit. Many people are using Plex as a way to stream shows and movies they host locally, but users are frustrated as today’s issues are reportedly affecting their ability to do so.
“Basically everything Plex doesn’t work unless you can play locally on LAN, but even that takes a long time and doesn’t always work,” one user said. Others have reported problems matching content on their servers. The Plex TV site was loading slowly for me, although it started to load more reliably when I originally wrote this story.
Plex confirmed the problems: The company’s status page initially noted problems with free streaming of movies and shows, the plex.tv API, Discover Together, and live TV program directory data. The problems continued for about a couple of hours. The page now says that Plex is “fully operational.”
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Update July 14th.: The problems seem to have been resolved.
