Three of the NRL’s top six players are in action today, starting with a fifth v sixth battle between the Dolphins and Cronulla Sharks.
The 2026 Disappointment Cup will be followed by the Bulldogs and Raiders, who were in first place for much of last season but are well outside the finals this year.
And the matchday ends with the third-placed Roosters hosting the Eels in Daniel Tupou’s 300th game.

Sensational goal by KL Iro
Braydon Trindall rolls in the tackle and the Dolphins appear to have him covered through Trey Fuller and Jamaine Isaako, but K.L. Iro pumps up the muscles between the pair and manages to land amazingly while in a completely horizontal jump.
There is a small question about the grounding, but the bunker confirms the try signal on the green.

Oregon Kaufusi fails first attempt
Blake Braley comes out of a dummy near the line and sends the ball to Oregon Kaufusi.
He hits Morgan Knowles before Francis Molo, Trey Fuller and Tom Flagler arrive, but it’s still not enough to stop him from scoring in the exact same position that Flagler missed at the other end of the field.

The Dolphins dropped the ball out of their own territory a couple of times, but the Sharks couldn’t make them pay.
Meanwhile, every time the Fins reach the end of their sets, they pin the Sharks deep in their own half of the field.

5′ Jamaine Isaaco is unhappy
Jamaine Isaako makes a sharp move back and it looks like Braydon Trindall and K.L. Iro knocks him down with a tackle, but the referee says he’s down.
As the Sharks threaten down the right flank, Herbie Farnworth and Tevita Naufahu confirm Isaako’s mistake by sending Jesse Ramien through.

For the Dolphins, defenders Selwyn Cobbo, Jack Bostock and Khamiso Tabuai-Fidow do not double up from Origin III, but middle forwards Max Plat and Tom Flagler will.
The Sharks are without Briton Nikora, while Blake Braley comes on and Addin Fonua-Blake sits on the bench in the number 23 shirt.

Tigers go 2-0 with NRLW win over Cowboys

Another impressive performance from halfback Rasen McGregor led the Tigers to a second straight NRLW season opener.
Having confirmed her prowess against the Eels in round one, McGregor was again instrumental in the Tigers’ 30-18 win over the Cowboys in Townsville.
Meanwhile, playmaker Faith Manera completed a hat-trick as the Tigers took the lead before the Cowboys threatened a comeback with three tries in 12 minutes between the 52nd and 64th minutes.
But Shaylee Bent’s late four-pointer and McGregor’s perfect 5/5 from the floor kept the Tigers out of reach.
