No, Fast & Furious 11 is not in production: update

“Fast & Furious 11,” the final installment in the “Fast and Furious” saga, is not currently in production, despite producer and star Vin Diesel teasing “the most amazing finale yet” last week.

On Friday, Diesel broke the internet with a social media post that showed him on set with Dominic Torreto’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T as crew members snapped a photo in the background.

“I’m on set. People are working. Incredible teams are working,” he said. “We’ve spent the last three and a half years trying to make the most amazing ending possible.”

Many speculated that the post proved that Diesel’s finale following 2023’s “Fast X” had finally begun, but TheWrap has learned that this is not the case.

Diesel was actually filming a World Cup commercial that aired during the USA’s game against Belgium yesterday, in which he apparently plays Toretto. Check out this space below:

Universal’s hugely expensive film Quick X saw director Louis Leterrier enter production midway through after original director Justin Lin left the film. Since its release, we’ve been wondering what exactly is going on with the franchise. “Fast X” was supposed to be the first part of a two-part saga; the film didn’t even have a proper ending, instead opting for a cliffhanger.

In addition, there are no details – will Leterrier return to directing? Will Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson return to the series, as promised in the last part? And who from the original cast will also return?

The Hunger Games prequel writer Michael Lesslie has been tapped to rewrite the script, which was previously written by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean.

Fast & Furious 11, officially titled Fast & Furious Forever, will hit theaters on March 17, 2028.

Universal Studios declined to comment.
